A newcomer
to the music scene, Los Angeles native Melanie Hersch has been making
waves with her recently released CD, “Waiting for the Moment”.
Produced by Tom Freund (the Silos), along with Melanie, this album
is an inspiring collection of songs that range from alt. country
to folk to rock to pop. With the support of players such as Greg
Leitz (Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell), Michael Jerome
(The Blind Boys of Alabama, Richard Thompson), Danny Frankel (Victoria
Williams, Fionna Apple), this album shines as an impressive debut
release. Intimate, honest, confessional and catchy, Waiting for
the Moment gives a clear taste of the talent and range that Melanie
has to offer. Comparisons to Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, and
Sheryl Crow are commonly made, however Melanie has a unique writing
style and vocal delivery that is clearly her own. Part velvet, part
grit, Melanie’s voice has a quality to it that is both achingly
penetrating and highly addictive. Her music is refreshingly intimate,
and Melanie’s lyrics paint pictures in your head that you
just can’t help but relate to.
On
tour for the past couple years singing with folk artist Brian Joseph,
Melanie has been inspiring audiences all over the country. Now out
on her own promoting her new album, she is touring more than ever.
With her infectious bright smile and light-hearted ways, Melanie
brings a warmth and presence to the stage that is truly inspiring
and captivating, exuding an honesty that is all too rare!
-----------------------
“Melanie
has one of those voices that defies easy description, sucking you
in right away with a throaty edge and a fresh immediate sound. She
is one of those performers who catches you by surprise. She looks
like she’s going to be another ‘girl with guitar’
singer, and then all of the sudden that voice comes out. Think ‘Lucinda-meets-Sheryl’,
think ‘twang-meets-folk-meets-pop.’ Either way, you’ll
be sucked in not only by the music, but the warmth of her presence
and her performance. Definitely a not-to-be missed act who really
stands out from the crowd; your audience will be clamoring for more!”
